Sandcastles, Seafood, and Sluggish Summer Days

ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Right around the time where I was considering going on an social media hiatus, Lillie Vale tweeted, asking if anyone was interested in reading an ARC of her debut, Small Town Hearts. I’ve read her works from Wattpad and have fallen in love with her writing voice, so, of course, I couldn’t resist this tempting offer.

Babe Vogel should be excited for this summer. She’s done with high school, living in her lighthouse home, and is working as a barista at the Busy Bean. It should be perfect. But she’s freaking out about how her relationship with her two best friends will change when they go off to college and leave Oar’s Rest, and consequently her, behind them. Then a reckless kiss breaks them apart, Babe’s ex-girlfriend returns to the sleepy Maine town, and Babe is left scrambling around for a sliver of what she used to have.

Meet Levi Keller. Cute, sweet, an artist… and he’s leaving at the end of the summer. Babe knows better than to fall for a tourist, but he’s so compelling. Will she keep her distance or break her rule to never fall for a summer break?

Filled with geeky humor, compelling platonic and romantic relationships, and ice cream sweet moments, Lillie Vale delivers a summer story that is as messy as it is delectable. Babe, Levi, and the rest of the colorful cast of complex characters have planted themselves firmly in my heart, and I have no intention of forgetting them. I rate this addictive treasure of a book five out of five stars.

Small Town Hearts will be released on March 19th, and is available for pre-order at Amazon, IndieBound, Alibris, Abebooks, Google Play, Walmart eBooks, and Barnes & Noble. Feel free to request it at your local library as well.
